Spice & Easy
It's true! Savory Spice Shop has a new Food Network show called Spice & Easy which premiered in April for six shows! Janet will hosts and the show is set in our shops and our home kitchen. It features many of the recipes that we have created using our spices and seasonings. It also focuses on taking classic recipes and giving them new life by infusing them with new flavors.
So you may be thinking, "What????" Well, us too! It all started when Road Tasted with the Neelys came to Denver and we were lucky enough to be guests on the show. The production company, Follow Productions, who also produce Paula's Best Dishes, Down Home with the Neelys and Big Daddy's House, loved our shop and asked us if we'd be interested in being guests on some of their other shows. Our answer was, "Uh....YES!".
Mike and Janet were so excited to film an episode of Paula's Best Dishes with the queen of southern cuisine herself. Paula invited us into her home to introduce her to some new flavors. Along with her Sugar 'n Spice Pecans and Couscous Salad, we made our Marrakech Moroccan Spiced Chicken and Harissa Spiced Green Beans. We had an awesome time and Paula truly is as nice as she seems on her shows!
Later we met up with Pat and Gina Neely again, but this time on their turf and their show, Down Home with the Neelys. We had a blast making garam masala glazed pulled pork in cornbread empanadas. Pulled pork courtesy of the Neelys of course.
A couple screen tests and meetings later, the production company had pitched a show about cooking with spices to the Network and here we are. We are psyched to bring spices to the Food Network in this way, where they are truly the star of the show.
All of the taped shows have aired and we are hoping to hear that more will be ordered!
