Cozy Corner Bar-B-Q: Memphis, TN

The start of day 18 was stop number 44 at historic Cozy Corner BBQ in Memphis. This barbecue joint has been in business since 1977. Unfortunately they recently had a fire that destroyed the inside of their original location. But the community (not only the barbecue community, but many others) rallied around them and helped them get set up across the street in a temporary location. Encore Cafe was just about to open their business and modified their plans so Cozy would have a place to continue doling out their terrific 'cue! Plans are in the works to eventually reopen in their original location.
We met Bobby Bradley and his pit master Rob Howard out in back where they have moved their original pits into a trailer. Bobby now is the man in charge of the business that his grandparents Raymond & Desiree Robinson started. But he doesn't do it alone. Various family members including his mom, sister and grandmother are still there to help him along.
Bobby is 30 years old and for as long as he can remember they have been serving up their famous cornish hens. We tried those along with some rib ends (short ribs on the ends) and their cole slaw. Everything had that true Memphis charcoal cue flavor and juicy interior and was brought together with their savory barbecue sauce.
Like Pitmaster Superman Rob said, the key to good barbecue is that it is made with love. There's a whole lot of love going on 'round here! #chasingbbq
