The word ‘chaat’ means ‘lick’ in Hindi and the word ‘masala’ means ‘spice’. You’ll find yourself licking your lips after tasting this spicy, sweet and sour mixture. We handcraft our slightly Americanized version and have replaced the overly pungent aromas of asafetida and highly sulfuric smelling black salt with onion, garlic and sea salt.

Chat Masala is traditionally used to spice up fruit and vegetable salads, potato and chicken dishes. It also can be used to add tart flavor to chutneys, cocktails and snacks like Moongphali Chatpata (spicy peanuts). We mix this blend from mango powder, sea salt, cumin, black pepper, ajowan, guajillo chiles, peppermint, garlic, onion and citric acid.
