Tamarind is native to Eastern Africa and grows wild throughout the Sudan.

Tamarind has a unique, sweet aroma and a sour fruity flavor that is fast becoming more and more appreciated in America and other parts of the world. We have also found it to be a great component in barbecue sauces, hot sauces and marinades.
Three to 500 pounds of tamarind pods are produced by each tree annually.
