Ask ten people to name the perfect dish and you’re likely to get a dozen different answers. When it comes to entertaining though, I’m here to tell you that there is, unequivocally, one perfect answer. Whether you’re hosting an open house, entertaining a crowd for the holidays, snacking during the big game, or just need a little something to tide you over between meals, the answer is simple…dip. Three little letters hold nearly endless possibility. You can make it healthy or decadent, tried and true, or wildly unique—there really is something for everyone.

Here are 10 flavorful dips for any occasion:

10. Kimay's Onion Dip

There’s a reason that onion dip is a classic – it’s just plain good! Forgo the powdery old soup mix in favor of this quick and easy (but impressive) homemade party favorite. It’s best after the flavors have had a chance to meld, so this one has the added bonus of being a perfect ‘make-ahead’ option. This already gluten-free dip can be tweaked for other “free” eating as well: use a non-dairy sour cream to make it dairy-free and substitute granulated onion for Onion Salt to make it salt-free.

9. Buffalo Bleu Dip and Dressing

Buffalo sauce and bleu cheese is a match made in snacking heaven. We’ve rolled this tangy, spicy combination into a dip that scores a flavor touchdown. Sure, you can serve it with wings, but how about making celery and carrots the star players – just this once. *Bonus* This recipe does double duty as a dip or dressing, depending on your sour cream to buttermilk ratio.

8. Wasabi Edamame Dip, Harissa Carrot Dip, and Napa "Pickled" Beet Dip

Dip your veggies in veggies! These are actually three separate recipes but can easily be served as a trio of dips. They are as flavorful as they are colorful, and all three can be made dairy-free. Don’t be surprised if you overhear someone saying, “I don’t usually like beets but this is pretty good.”

7. Parmesan Artichoke Dip

Not just for restaurants anymore. This dip can be served straight from the fridge or warm from the oven. Serve it with veggies instead of bread for a totally gluten-free snack. If you’re lucky enough to have some leftover (not likely!), it is the perfect spread for a turkey sandwich.

6. Curried Fruit Dip

Don’t let chips and veggies have all the fun. This is a dessert dip that strikes the perfect balance between bold and sweet. Quick and easy, it benefits from a quick chill in the fridge, so make it before the guests begin to arrive. It’s a unique recipe that will surprise and delight! To make the recipe salt-free, use the suggested Marrakech Moroccan Spice.

5. Grand Dill Dip

Bright and refreshing, dill dip can be served with just about any dipping vessel. In addition to potato chips or veggies, try a sourdough bread bowl or jazz it up with rye bread or pumpernickel. *Bonus* Switch it up by adding Dijon: Use 2 to 3 tsp. Dill Dip, 1/2 cup of mayo, a 1/4 cup of Dijon, and a couple squirts of fresh lemon to taste.

4. Moroccan Lemon Yogurt Dip

One of my personal favorites, this recipe livens up the traditional veggies and dip platter. The dip is tangy and salt-kissed from preserved lemons but simultaneously aromatic and sweet from the Moroccan inspired seasoning. Grilling the vegetables is a great twist that might be your new party favorite.

3. Jaybird's Gas Station Nacho Cheese Sauce

Ok, I know this is technically called a “sauce,” but who doesn’t love dipping tortilla chips or pretzels into melty cheese? It’s perfect for snacking while watching the big game. (Make sure to serve some pickled jalapeños on the side too!)

2. Garden Ranch Dip & Dressing

Surely you didn’t think that I would skip the quintessential party dip! This better-than-bottled version of ranch is perfect for a classic crudités platter. Any remaining dip (and the veggies served with it) can be easily turned into a salad for lunch the next day.

1. Seasoning + Sour Cream

Ok, I know that this isn’t technically a recipe. If you’ve ever been in our store during a sample day, you have probably tried one of our ‘no recipe needed’ dips. Simply mix 2 to 3 Tbsp. of any of our signature Savory Spice blends into 1 cup of sour cream or plain Greek yogurt. Cheese blends are particularly good; some of our favorites are Smoky Hills Cheese Powder and Paris Cheese Sprinkle. Add a little heat by trying a curry blend like Southern Spain Pinchito Spice or Medium Yellow Curry. Experiment with one of our Southwestern seasonings like Mexican Style Adobo or Peruvian Chile Lime Seasoning with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. Don’t forget the barbeque rubs; everyone loves our Red Rocks Hickory Smoke Seasoning. The best part about going this DIY route is that you can cater your dip to your nutritional and flavor needs too…dairy-free, gluten-free, salt-free, sugar-free. You name it, we can help you flavor it.

If you’ve got a recipe for the perfect dip, we’d love to hear about it! Submit your recipes to Savory’s test kitchen here.
