Don't Fear the Reaper - The Carolina Reaper That Is!Monday, July 28, 2014
6:45pm - 8:00pm
In 2011, the PuckerButt Pepper Company began to marinate in the juices that would make it famous. Ed, or "Smokin Ed" made global headlines on November 2013 when the Carolina Reaper® (cultivated in his Rock Hill, South Carolina greenhouse) was awarded the Guinness World Record for the World’s Hottest Chile. The HP22B pepper–now known as Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper® has an average SHU of 1,569,300. Join us for a guest lecture featuring Ed Currie, founder of Pucker Butt Pepper Company and creator of the world’s hottest chile pepper. Ed will discuss how he got started, how the Carolina Reaper was created and what is in the think tank for the future. Lecture will be followed by a Q&A session. Light "reaper inspired" appetizers will be provided by Chef Darryl Hurts, Owner of The Spice Makers Personal Chef Service. A Johnson & Wales Alumni, Chef Darryl offers culinary services, menu planning, consultation and inspiration. Additional information about Chef Darryl, can be found at www.spicemakerchef.com. We hope you will join us for an evening of spice, food, and learning. Attendee fee is $10 per person, non-refundable. Call or visit the shop to register.
