Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Arrange uncut bacon slices in a single layer on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the applesauce, cream cheese and the Zanzibar Curry Powder until smooth. Remove bacon and blot dry with paper towels.
Next, carefully fill date centers with half of the cream cheese mixture and set aside. Cut bacon slices in half. Fold the bacon slices in half longways and run a toothpick through about a quarter inch from each end to form boats. Carefully place a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each bacon boat and then lightly press a filled date onto the dollop. Place onto a clean parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat until all 18 bacon boats are filled. Bake for 10-11 minutes. Remove from oven and place one apple slice straight up and down into each cream cheese filled date to form a ‘sail’. Bake for 2 more minutes just to heat apple through. Serve warm.
Yields: 18 sailboats
