Simple Syrup: Urfa-Cardamom

Vanilla Bean Sugar 2 oz bag $4.10
Cardamom, Inner Seeds 1 oz bag $4.75
Chile, Urfa, Crushed 1 oz bag $2.65

Ingredients:

Directions:

Whisk Vanilla Bean Sugar and water together in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring to make sure sugar dissolves, and cook for 1 to 2 min. Remove from heat and add cardamom seeds, Urfa and Fleur de Sel. Cover and allow mixture to steep until room temperature, about 20 min. Strain and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Use within 2 weeks.

Serving Suggestions:

Mix 1 Tbsp. syrup with 8 oz. club soda, seltzer water or sparkling wine. Use in our Urfa Grapefruit Margarita, Urfa Orange Crush, Urfa-Freckled Mango Smoothie or Urfa-Cardamom Shrimp & Pineapple Skewers recipes.

    I work at the Savory Spice Shop in Franklin, Tn. I fell in love with our Urfa Chili's a few weeks ago and have used them in everything since. I loved this syrup! I am also a fan of cardamom, so it was perfect for me. I do recommend straining the syrup. It takes a few minutes but gives the syrup a nice color. I used a strainer with a coffee filter placed in it and just let it rest for about 20 mins. I made a cocktail of 2 oz. vodka, 2 tsps. syrup and soda. It was wonderful. Very light and refreshing. Perfect for a summer day but the slight heat of the Urfa's (I can't sing their praises enough) just adds the perfect touch.
