• 6 cups water
  • 4 Tbsp. Chai Spices
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Darjeeling black tea (about 6 tea bags)
  • 4 Tbsp. brown sugar or honey


Bring water and Chai Spices to a boil, reduce and simmer for 5 min. Remove from heat, cover and steep for 10 min. Add milk and return mixture to heat until it just barely begins to boil. Stir in tea and brown sugar or honey, remove from heat, cover and steep 5 min. Strain and serve.

Serving Suggestions

Delicious hot or iced.

I love chai tea, and wanted something authentic. When I found Chai Spices on SSS, I was intrigued. I have always followed the recipe on the chai spices instructions and loved it, BUT this time I added 1 tablespoon Mt. Baker Chai Spice Seasoning when I added the brown sugar and black tea- WOW- that seasoning brought the taste over the top in a great way! Whether you add the Mt. Baker Chai or not this chai tea is layered with spices. From the cinnamon aroma while sipping, the sweet taste of ginger and brown sugar then ending with all the 'spices of India', this tea will just make you happy in every way :) We have drank the tea both warm and cold, then any leftovers go into the freezer to be enjoyed as a dessert. To me this is a must have in every kitchen ESPECIALLY during the winter because the aroma fills the home with the smells of the Holidays. GREAT gift for others... give a 4 ounce bag of Chai Spices, include the black tea and brown sugar (and 1 tsp. Mt. Baker Chai Spice if you like), and add instructions!! I always strain the tea using cheesecloth- YUM!
