These lightly battered green beans resemble tempura. Perfect for dipping and snacking.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 12 oz. amber beer
  • 1 lb. green beans, trimmed
  • sea salt & ground black pepper

Directions

Heat oil to 350 degrees in a small, deep Dutch oven or heavy bottomed saucepan. Whisk together flour and turmeric in a large bowl. Slowly whisk in beer, stirring until mixture is smooth. Toss a large handful of green beans at a time in mixture until coated. Carefully transfer battered green beans to hot oil and cook until golden brown, about 2 to 3 min. Use a slotted spoon to transfer green beans to a paper towel lined plate. Season with pinches of sea salt and pepper. Repeat process with remaining green beans. Serve warm or at room temperature.
