Bay Leaves, Turkish, Powdered
Bay leaves, also known as laurel leaves or bay laurels, come from the evergreen bay laurel tree which is native to the eastern Mediterranean. Powdered bay leaves are a very useful ingredient in many of our blends and can be a nice addition to your kitchen.
It is said in folklore that to plant a bay tree next to your house brings good luck, while to cut one down brings misfortune.
Powdered bay leaves should not be used interchangeably with whole bay leaves in a recipe. Whole leaves can be removed when the cooking process is complete whereas powdered cannot and will continue to build flavor, which can change the intended outcome.
