Ginger is native to Southeast Asia and is now also cultivated in Africa, Australia and Jamaica. Ginger was introduced to Europe and the Middle East from the Orient in a dried form, which explains why many dishes call for dried ginger rather than fresh. Ginger is a rhizome (root) and grows underground as a thick, tuberous stem bearing both roots and shoots.

At the school of medicine in Salermo, Italy doctors decided that everyone should eat ginger regularly in order to love and be loved like they were young!

We grind ginger weekly in small batches to ensure freshness. Ginger has a light, peppery, lemon aroma and a hot, spicy, sweet flavor. Ginger is a natural in baked goods but don’t forget it when cooking savory foods such as sauces, vegetables, veal, venison or pork.

"I wanted to Thank You for the care that went into my last order. Everything was bagged and wrapped PERFECTLY. It really means a lot when I get a note thanking me for the business, and Nate- who wrote the note and I presume filled the order- did an OUTSTANDING job! I found you over 3 years ago while looking for specific spices for a Vodka recipe. I was so tired running from store to store looking for hard to find spices like Ras el Hanout, Fenugreek seeds, Berbere seasoning, or pomegranate molasses! Your fresh and potent spices, blends and waters make me look like a 'rock star chef' to my family- they THINK I know what I am doing! Thank you again for the choices you give to us and for a fabulous product!"
