Piment d’ Espelette is a paprika from southwest France. Only a specific quantity is produced every year in accordance with knowledge passed down through generations. Chiles are hung on cords to dry. This dries the chiles slowly giving them a full-bodied, mature flavor. They are then coarsely ground into a bright orange powder.

About 3000 acres are used to grow all the Piment d’Espelette available.

Piment d’Espelette has a spiciness that is characterized by a bold, warm flavor. Try in soups or sauces but add toward the end of the cooking process to keep its full flavor. This paprika is also great on eggs, fish, meat, on mashed potatoes and other vegetables.

Piment d’Espelette or Espelette pepper is from the Basque region of southwest France.
