Scallions, or green onions, are actually a variety of an immature onion. We offer the more desirable green leaf portion of this bulbed onion. By freeze drying the leaves within a fraction of a second, virtually no flavor is lost and the impressive green color remains intact.
According to the National Onion Association, onion consumption in the U.S. has increased approximately 50% over the past 20 years.
Our freeze dried scallions are similar in flavor to a young green onion producing a mild, delicate taste great for soups, salads, sauces, vegetable dishes and egg dishes such as quiche. Be careful when ordering as the product is very light and only takes about a 1/2 ounce to stuff a sandwich bag full.
