This pink salt is believed to be quite possibly the most ancient of all sea salts. Dried up ancient oceans have left salt beds hundreds of feet deep from which this salt is mined. Many Tibetans believe that this salt has spiritual importance and mystical properties and because of that the mining of this salt is highly restricted. Mined by hand by local salt miners, this rare salt is then loaded onto yaks and brought down the mountain to be distributed throughout Pakistan via the same centuries old trade route.

Because this unrefined, pink speckled salt has been trapped deep in the Himalayan Mountains for thousands of years, it is believed to be the purest of all salts, free of modern chemicals, toxins and radiation sources. These mineral rich crystals range in color from white, shades of pink to deep red, which indicates a beneficial amount of 84 trace elements including iron.
