Four Sugar-Free Menus and the Seasonings that Make Them Delicious

Just because you’re avoiding sugar doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a flavorful meal. Savory Spice has more than 350 sugar-free products and more than 100 recipes that contain no added sugar. That's a lot of sugar-free spices and recipes to browse through! So we narrowed the list down to a few of our favorite selections to create complete meal ideas. Included here are four menus that are sugar-free from start to finish. These menus consist of recipes that use sugar-free seasonings or spices and have no added sugars. Whether you're cooking a weeknight meal for the family or hosting a small party, you'll find plenty of delicious sugar-free inspiration that will please almost any palate.

Menu 1: Coastal Cuisine

Right about now, in the middle of winter, a beach-inspired meal sounds pretty great. This menu starts with a hearty appetizer that your dinner guests can enjoy while waiting for the main dish: smoky salmon cakes, made with our Cape Hatteras Seafood Seasoning, atop a bed of greens. The cakes are perfect served with a side of tangy, homemade remoulade sauce featuring Cambridge Celery Seasoning. A tangy, herb-y, one-pot shrimp and rice dish with Bajan Seasoning is the feature of this meal. It doesn’t take long to prepare and it’s a great dish to feed a crowd.


Menu 2: Southwestern Soup & Snacks

This meal is great for a small party or casual get-together. Start the party with a refreshing salsa and hearty snack; and keep everyone happy with a healthy, flavorful soup. The sweetness of mango and the mild heat from Urfa chiles are the perfect pairing for a gorgeous and addictive salsa starter. While guests nibble on salsa you can quickly prepare the turmeric-tinted, tempura-like green beans. Either make the creamy dipping sauce (featuring our mild and slightly smoky Mapuche Style Merken Seasoning) ahead of time or take about two minutes to whip it up on the spot. As you watch the green beans disappear, you can work on the tortilla soup; it’s made with one of our customer favorites—Peruvian Chile Lime Seasoning— and only takes about 30 minutes to make.


Menu 3: Asian Inspiration

Many Asian condiments contain added sugar. Avoid this dilemma by making your own, like our easy, sugar-free homemade sriracha with whole dried ancho and chipotle chiles. Granted, it takes some planning ahead since it needs to sit for two weeks in the refrigerator. But once made this sriracha lasts for up to a year and can be used to garnish any of your favorite Asian-inspired dishes. The heat of the sriracha pairs well with our tangy, coconut-sweet (yet sugar-free), and mildly spicy chicken curry made with Cambodian Lemongrass Curry. Tame the heat a bit by serving the curry over hearty wild rice infused with sugar-free apple cider and the sweet heat of ground ginger.


Menu 4: Mediterranean Medley

In this refreshingly healthy menu, a few classics are given a Mediterranean twist. Start the meal with a unique hummus seasoned with roasted granulated garlic and our herb-y, mustard-y Bohemian Forest European Style Seasoning. For the main, try a flank steak marinated with our Roman Pepper Steak Seasoning and grilled over high heat— just a few minutes per side is all it takes for medium-rare. Serve the steak over a rich cauliflower puree featuring one of our best-selling blends, Capitol Hill Seasoning.
