Danny Edward's BBQ: Kansas City, MO
with Matt Osier
Savory Spice Team

This was the last day of #chasingbbq and it was bittersweet one for me as I had a great time meeting interesting people and eating amazing 'cue. On the other hand, I was ready to get back home to my life in Denver and get some non-fried veggies in me!
That said, lets get on with it! My first stop...number 86...on my last day...day 38, was at Danny Edwards Famous Kansas City Barbecue. I didn't go there alone though. I had my two Savory guys, Joe and George, and my special guest barbecue chaser...The Baron of Barbecue, Mr. Paul Kirk. He's a legend in KC competitive barbecue and a Barbecue Hall of Famer. Having Paul eat with us gave me a whole new understanding of barbecue. The type of education that you can only get by having an experience like that.
This joint was busy right from the get go and was pretty much packed within 30 minutes. That meant there wasn't going to be any real time to talk with Danny, who can still be found behind the counter slicing up 'cue. He did however come over to say hi and take a few pics.
We ordered a lot...ribs, corned beef, Danny's special sandwich, burnt ends, turkey and brisket...and paired those with sides of beans, jambalaya and slaw. The highlights for the table were the very tasty and nicely textured ribs, perfectly smoked corned beef sandwich and the smoky baked beans. Solid 'cue and nice staff.
