Micklethwait: Austin, TX

The first stop of the day was at Micklethwait Craft Meats where I got the chance to chat it up with pitmaster and owner Thomas Micklethwait. He runs his business out of a food trailer and offers terrific 'cue, savory kolaches and interesting sides that are made from scratch. He offers hope for all of us as he's a guy who started barbecuing in his backyard and is now recognized as one of the top pitmasters in Austin and outside of Austin too - his spot was called a unanimous "must visit" from everyone I talked to. And it lived up to its billing.

I particularly enjoyed the beef rib, sausage and my first savory kolache. Check out his spot the next time you're in Austin! #‎chasingbbq

They don't sell kolaches and Tom is a jerk.
