Introducing Spice 'n Easy

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new product line, Spice ‘n Easy! These new products are all about helping you make specific recipes quickly and easily without a lot of fuss. When life is busy, which it always seems to be, having a few go-to recipes that you can rely on makes meal planning a whole heck of a lot easier.

I don’t know about you, but Janet and I are fans of planning our dinners for the week. We find that when we don’t, it’s easy to fall into the trap of eating out or ordering in more than we really want to because in the moment, it just feels more convenient.

Obviously, there’s a time and place for both, but nothing fulfills us more than whipping up a great meal together in our own kitchen. It’s our chance to slow down, put the worries of the day aside and enjoy each other’s company while doing something we both love. When we are doing that, not only does it satisfy our hunger, but there’s something about the magic of cooking together that just brings us closer as a couple. Of course, it’s also awesome when one of us recognizes that the other has had a particularly tough day and steps up to cook a great dish for the other. At our house, that’s an act of kindness that goes a long way.

Sunday is the day we plan our weekly meal calendar. First, we look to see if we have a Spice Club recipe - if you haven’t joined yet, you are missing out on some amazing meals! Then our go-to Savory recipes get added to the schedule. We round it out by incorporating a new recipe from one of our favorite magazines like our local 5280, something that caught our eye in one of the national publications, or from a recent cookbook purchase. Then, we flip a coin and one of us heads off to the grocery store to pick up the goods needed that week. Now we’re excited to add six new Spice ‘n Easy dishes to our weekly meal planning rotation!

Rustic Red Sauce
Rustic Red Sauce

The inspiration behind the Spice ‘n Easy line was twofold. First, we wanted to take some of our customers' favorite recipes and make them easier to purchase. A great example of this is our Rustic Red Sauce. In the past, you’d need to purchase four separate spices to make the recipe. Not the end of the world, but not convenient.

Now we’ve taken those four ingredients, mixed them together into a new Rustic Red Sauce seasoning blend, and packaged it in the exact amount you need to make the recipe. That equates to less packaging waste, less partially used spice bags, and a way better price! And on top of that, the packaging includes the recipe, a short shopping list, and a photo of the finished dish.

Secondly, we wanted to introduce you to new family-friendly recipes. We started with some of our most popular seasonings and married new flavors into them to create unique (and tasty!) options. Our new Tikka Taco is the perfect example of this. Tikka Masala is one of our best-selling curries and Taco Seasoning is one of our top overall selling products. Customers love them both, so we tweaked and tested and tweaked some more to find the ideal balance to create a new family-friendly flavor that is delivered with an easy-to-make recipe. We love it here and anticipate that you and your family will too!

These two new products join Tikka Masala, Toasty Tomato Bisque, Seven Onion Dip and Horseradish Dill Dip & Spread as our first six Spice ‘n Easy products. On November 15, 2017, we added another six for a total of 12 Spice 'n Easy packets: Sunday Pot Roast, Garden Pesto Pasta, Southwestern Chili con Carne, Feta Turkey Burger, Spiced Apple Bake, and Chocolate Orange Mug Cake, and we hope to add more!

Visit your local store or shop online and give them try.

And remember, making someone a Spice 'n Easy recipe is sure to be an act of kindness that goes a long way. We all could use a bunch more of that in our lives these days.

Happy meal planning,
Mike…and Janet!

Are these meal planners gluten free?

(guest), on October 16, 2017

Love your shop in Encinitas and have shopped there and been very happy with your spices and will be in to try your new format of combo seasonings!

Thanks for the question! Yes, the spices included in all our Spice 'n Easy products are gluten free. To make the finished product gluten free, make the usual substitutions as needed (for example, Tikka Tacos calls for flour tortillas, but you could opt for corn tortillas for a gluten-free meal).

I live in competitor state but will purchase Spice 'n Easy. Do you have a special on the products listed in this ad. It's very clever.

I have amassed quite a collection of your spices which we use almost daily. I’ll look forward to trying these!

Sounds good. My question is, are any of these mixes low sodium?

(guest), on October 18, 2017

I will be waiting for your salt-free Spice 'n Easy line as well! Looking forward to it!

MollyMartin (registered user) on October 18, 2017

All six of these new Spice 'n Easy products contain salt but the two with the lowest sodium content are Seven Onion Dip (190mg per serving) and Tikka Tacos (150mg per serving). We will definitely keep the low sodium/salt-free requests in mind as we develop more of these!

Would love to have the spice and easy with less sodium Is that possible??

Hello, I am interested in the spice mixes, but I am trying to lower my plastic use. Are the bags they come in recycle-friendly?

MollyMartin (registered user) on October 30, 2017

Thanks for your interest in trying these new products. The Spice 'n Easy bags themselves are recyclable but unfortunately the label adhesive is not. As for the sodium content, you cannot currently get these products with less sodium, but we hope to offer more low/no sodium Spice 'n Easys in the future!

These sound like wonderful stocking stuffers! By chance, are they dairy free too?

MollyMartin (registered user) on October 30, 2017

They would make great stocking stuffers! All 6 of these Spice 'n Easy spices mixes are dairy free as are three of the complete recipes (Toasty Tomato Bisque, Rustic Red Sauce and Tikka Tacos). For the other three, you would need to make some recipe substitutions to make the final dish dairy-free.

Have recently removed competitors spices from my cabinet and began using Savory. I love the freshness and quality. Had an amazing veggie garden this summer and am now making amazing dishes, such as salsa verde cover chicken enchiladas, that have come to life with Savory spices. Thank you for making my families mouths water.

I received two packets of Spice and Easy for Christmas. I fell in love with your product because of the ease of preparing a meal that was so flavorful. The garden pesto pasta was outstanding and in the warm months will make a great salad.

I'm looking for the Party Cracker Seasoning mix. I didn't see it on your site?

I have ordered from savory spice. I tell ya the are amazing with a touch of class in my opinion. So, my order arrives and as a small token of their appreciation for ordering from Savory spice included a small pouch of their newest herb at the time was the Bohemian Forest European Seasoning and I was so appreciative.
Thank you savory spice.
