The Pit Authentic BBQ: Raleigh, NC221

Last night to finish out day 27 of #chasingbbq I had a great group join me at The Pit Authentic BBQ in Raleigh, NC. Joining me were my mom, aunt Georgia, Bob and Cindy Jones of Savory Spice Raleigh, Christopher Prieto of PRIME Barbecue and my traveling buddy for this leg, Tony. What a fun evening of barbecue chatter!
The staff there gave us the royal treatment, which included some complimentary desserts and a look in at the pits as they put the whole hog and butts on to be smoked overnight. Very nice and cool for all to see.
'Cue wise, we ordered up a smorgasbord including, spares and baby backs, brisket, chopped pork and turkey, mac & cheese, collards, slaw, fried okra and a basket of complimentary biscuits and hush puppies. Remember those desserts...peanut butter pie, carrot cake and meringue topped banana pudding. That was easily enough to feed this crowd of barbecue chasers!
Highlights for me were the chopped pork, mac & cheese, hush puppies and while I'm always a sucker for carrot cake, I loved the peanut butter pie!
This is a great place to take a big group. If you're in the area they'd be happy to give you a first class experience too!
