Henry's Smokehouse: Greenville, SC

with Matt Osier

I'm back in the great mustard sauce state hanging out in Greenville, SC. Stop 67 was Henry's Smokehouse, which had that classic joint look when I drove up to it..maybe classed up just a little bit. Hickory and oak smoke was drifting and the air was thick with the aroma of 'cue.
I had a brief communicate with one of the owners today so I knew that they wouldn't be around until Wednesday, but given my schedule, I had to stay the course. Troy Blanchard, one of the rotating pitmasters, stepped in nicely to fill me in on their spot. The conversation was informative and helped me to understand the barbecue they're are serving up.
I ordered a three meat plate consisting of ribs, chicken and pulled pork. I chose peach cobbler and hash as my sides. The highlights for me were that spicy.. but not to hot..mustard barbecue sauce, the pulled pork coated in the same sauce (of my choosing), the hash made of chopped pork, onion and more of that tasty mustard sauce over rice and the made-from-scratch peach cobbler...Mmmm!
I went to the original location, but they do have two other locations in and around Greenville. #chasingbbq
