Barbecue BBQ BBQ Sauce
Get a head start on barbecue season even if it’s too cold to fire up the grill! Last summer, we launched our own line of eight small batch barbecue sauces. Our sauces were inspired both by regional flavors, like Midwestern Sweet and Alabama White, as well as by our signature seasonings, like Woody’s Sweet & Tangy and Black Dust Coffee & Spice. We’ve been guzzling the sauces all winter in slow cooker, stovetop, and oven-based recipes. Just goes to show you can enjoy the barbecue flavors of summer without even stepping outside.
1. Eggplant Crunch-Burgers with Alabama White Mustard Sauce
If your vision of barbecue doesn’t include vegetarian dishes… maybe it should! Carnivores and vegetarians alike love this “meaty” eggplant burger. The smoky Alabama White is combined with tangy pickled mustard seeds or dijon mustard to create the perfect complement to this out-of-the-box veggie burger.
2. Shredded Barbecue Chicken
If you want incredible barbecue chicken but don't have the hours or equipment it takes to smoke whole birds, this is your recipe. It is the definition of easy with a quick prep time. While you can use any of your favorite Small Batch BBQ Sauces, we think that Southern Gold is the true winner here. The combination of the sweet tomato base and tangy mustard makes awesome chicken that can be used in sandwiches, on flatbreads, or just piled high next to your favorite slaw.
3. BBQ Chicken Pizza
Speaking of easy meals, this may be your new weeknight go-to. Midwestern Sweet balances with piquant red onions and creamy mozzarella. Smoked Gouda adds another layer of flavor and helps bring out the hickory smoke in the barbecue sauce. You are going to want to make this every night!
4. Lodo Red Adobo Ribs
A customer submitted this recipe in the dead of winter when they were craving the flavors of summer. It is an easy oven baked ribs recipe that is great with any of our sauces, but we particularly like with our rich and slightly smoky Black Dust Coffee & Spice sauce. The flavors of coffee, cumin, and cocoa make this ultimate bold barbecue for chasing away your winter culinary slump.
5. Pepper-Crusted Prime Rib Roast
We gave the classic prime-rib some barbecue flare with this recipe. Our Black Dip Barbecue Sauce, featured here, is inspired by regional Kentucky BBQ where they use a thin Worcestershire-based sauce for mutton, lamb, and pork. By using our 'Cue Glue and Black Dip in place of Worcestershire sauce in the rub for the roast, you get a deliciously chewy and peppery crust. The twist? You’re getting the barbecue-like bark in the oven instead of in the smoker or on the grill. Everyone will be asking how you did it!
6. Slow Cooker Smoky Chipotle Pulled Pork
Spicy, sweet, and a ton of smoky flavor…all out of your crockpot! It is so quick to prepare the night before–perfect for those days that you need to “set and forget.” With Woody’s Sweet & Tangy Barbecue Sauce, you get some of the sweet warm spices from our Georgia Peach Spice blend that is killer paired with the pork. While you can totally use this in a “leveled up” pulled pork sandwich, our favorite utilization for this recipe is served over baked sweet potatoes. Yum!
