The flavor profile of Texas BBQ features simple black pepper and salt for both brisket and beef ribs. While those are the primary spices, this is our list of "must have" spices and seasonings for Texas barbecue. To make Texas brisket, you can make your own rub with extra coarse black pepper and kosher salt, or try Gourmet Santa Maria Sea Salted BBQ Rub; for a little more flavor variety, add Native Texan BBQ Rub, Red Cloud Peak Seasoning, or California Paprika. Make Texas bbq beef ribs by using (again) extra coarse black pepper and kosher salt, or try one of our rubs for beef: Great Plains Bison & Beef Rub, Hudson Bay Beef Spice, or Pike's Peak Butcher's Rub. For Texas style jalapeno/cheddar sausage, you'll want to keep diced jalapeno, minced garlic, and crushed red pepper in your arsenal. We also have some ready to use seasonings for homemade sausage: Flat Irons Prime Rib Rub, Homestead Seasoning, and Frying Pan Pork Sausage Spice.
