This grown-up drink for kids was created in Savory's test kitchen by 11-year-old customer Avery B. She wanted to make something more creative than the usual Shirley Temple...something special that kids would be excited to sip at holiday parties or family dinners.



Place water and 1/2 cup of the sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly to dissolve sugar. Once boiling, add cherries and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 5 min. to soften cherries. Once soft, gently smash cherries against the side of the pan with a large spoon. Remove from heat and stir in both extracts. Strain syrup into a clean jar, pressing on the cherries to get out as much liquid as possible; discard cherries (or eat!). Seal jar and set over ice water until cool, about 5 min.

Meanwhile, prepare 4 “mocktail” glasses: Place remaining 1/4 cup sugar in a wide bowl. Rub 1 wedge of lime around the rim of each glass. Dip rim of glasses in sugar to coat. Place a handful of ice cubes in each glass then add 3 to 4 Tbsp. cooled cherry syrup and top with club soda. Garnish each glass with a wedge of lime and fresh mint leaves.
