Simmering green beans in broth infuses them with an extra layer of flavor. They're quickly finished with a bit of butter or olive oil and seasoned with one of our customer favorites, Capitol Hill Seasoning. This is an addictively delicious side for a holiday feast or a simple weeknight meal.

Notes

*Make this vegetarian and vegan by using vegetable broth and olive oil instead of beef broth and butter. This recipe was submitted by Savory fan Jeni Pittard, the blogger behind Barefoot in the Kitchen.

Directions

Cut green beans into 2-inch pieces, or leave them whole depending on preference. Bring broth and green beans to a boil in a large saucepan. Boil for 4 to 5 min. Drain broth, reserving for another use if desired. Place green beans back in the saucepan with butter, seasoning, pepper, and pecans. Cook for 4 to 5 min., tossing occasionally. Serve warm.

This was super-easy, and absolutely delicious. A man who, until now, did *not* like fresh green beans (he grew up with canned, only), devoured these, which I made with beans fresh from the farmer's market. Thank you! This recipe is going into my summer rotation.
