Our domestically grown black garlic is both organic and sustainable. This black garlic is produced using a proprietary process that includes controlled heat and humidity to ferment and age it. The resulting product is all natural with no additives or preservatives. The month long process not only changes the color of the garlic, but also the taste and the texture.
The flavor and aroma of garlic as we expect it is diminished but in its place is a rich, almost demi-glaze like flavor that finishes with the sweetness of figs and the subtle undertones of garlic. While black garlic is not meant to replace raw garlic, it can be used in similar dishes to create new flavor complexities. Try it with eggs, meats, pasta, seafood, salads, even desserts.
What is Organically Sourced?
Products with the "Organically Sourced" designation have been grown and cleaned organically. Once these products are received by our warehouse in Denver and opened to be repackaged into Savory Spice jars, they no longer qualify as organically certified, but the methods for producing them are in line with organic standards. Products that are Organically Sourced will include "ORG-S" on the front of the label.
