Cacao powder is cocoa powder; however, this powder is made by cold-pressing raw cacao beans. The temperature must not exceed 120° Fahrenheit to qualify as raw. Regular cocoa powders can be exposed to temperature as high as 300°. Additionally, this minimal processing allows for maximum flavor, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Historically, “cacao” and “cocoa” were used interchangeably. Technically, “cocoa” should be used in reference to powder products, while “cacao” should be used when referring to the bean.

This cacao powder is USDA certified organic by Skal International and guaranteed to be free of heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides. Imported from Peru and packed in the USA, cacao powder is useful for both baking and drinking. Try adding a tablespoon to your next smoothie or mix into almond milk for a rich and creamy chocolate drink. Add to your baked goods to really up the chocolate flavor.
