Native to Vietnam and still grown there exclusively, this cassia is thought by many to be the best. Cassia is what we here in the States know as cinnamon. But in reality, “true” cinnamon is the bark of an actual cinnamon tree, whereas what we know as cinnamon is the bark of a cassia tree. We grind Saigon in small batches weekly to ensure freshness.
The unmatched flavor of Vietnamese Saigon cassia is stronger and sweeter than your best store bought cinnamon. The bark is thicker and darker than Indonesian cassia, producing a rich dark brown cinnamon. This cinnamon is great for baking, savories and flavoring for drinks.
What is Organically Sourced?
Products with the "Organically Sourced" designation have been grown and cleaned organically. Once these products are received by our warehouse in Denver and opened to be repackaged into Savory Spice jars, they no longer qualify as organically certified, but the methods for producing them are in line with organic standards. Products that are Organically Sourced will include "ORG-S" on the front of the label.
Uses of Ground Saigon Cinnamon (Organically Sourced)
Iced Coffee: Stir 1/4 tsp. cinnamon into your cup of iced coffee.
Cinnamon Buns: Add 1 Tbsp. cinnamon to the filling of your favorite cinnamon roll recipe.
Sweet Potato Chili: Combine diced sweet potato, diced onion, crushed tomatoes, black beans, and diced green chilies in a large pot. Season to taste with chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, and salt. Simmer until sweet potatoes are cooked through and add chopped kale.
