Referred to as the “royal herb” by ancient Greeks, this summer herb is a member of the mint family. European is milder than our California and has a slight anise flavor.
European basil is an essential ingredient in Mediterranean cooking and pairs well with capers, chives, cilantro, garlic, marjoram, oregano, mint, parsley, rosemary and thyme. Practically everything is better with basil including but not limited to: tomatoes, corn, olives, mozzarella cheese, poultry, seafood, pasta, sauces and pizza.

What is Organically Sourced?

Products with the "Organically Sourced" designation have been grown and cleaned organically. Once these products are received by our warehouse in Denver and opened to be repackaged into Savory Spice jars, they no longer qualify as organically certified, but the methods for producing them are in line with organic standards. Products that are Organically Sourced will include "ORG-S" on the front of the label.
Flavor of European Basil (Organically Sourced)
This summer herb is milder than our California basil with anise notes and pairs well with chives, garlic, mint, and thyme.
Uses of European Basil (Organically Sourced)
Add to tomato-based sauces. Season poultry and seafood. Sprinkle on pasta and pizza. When substituting dry herbs for fresh, use 1/3 of the amount specified.

For 7-8 T of mix: Blend 2 T dried basil and oregano with 1 T dried garlic, marjoram, and thyme, 1 1/2 t dried rosemary, and 1 t crushed red pepper
