Pickling Spice (Salt-Free)

If you are a do-it-yourself type of person who likes projects you should definitely try pickling. Pickling can be fun for the family and a great way to get your children to eat more vegetables. When most people think if pickling the automatically think of pickles, but there is more to pickling than making pickles! Pickling is a great means of prolonging the shelf life of fruits and vegetables and adding some tangy zip! Our Pickling Spice is a blend of whole spices consisting of cracked Saigon cinnamon, Lampong peppercorns, brown and yellow mustard seeds, cracked ginger, coriander, dill, blade mace, allspice berries, juniper berries, cloves, chiles and cracked bay leaves.

Ingredients:
Saigon cinnamon, Lampong black peppercorns, brown and yellow mustard seeds, ginger, coriander, dill seeds, mace, allspice, juniper berries, cloves, chiles and cracked Turkish bay leaves

Use 2 tsp. per quart of brine to pickle any vegetable of your choice for a great summer treat. Also try using pickling spice when parboiling ribs before grilling, use 3 tbsp. of spice for 2-3 lb. of ribs in a 5-quart pot. Basic salt brine for pickling - To make a salt brine, mix 8 cups of water with a 1/3 cup salt and a 1/2 cup vinegar. This will give you enough brine for 2 quarts. When pickling, be sure that the vegetables are completely submerged in the brine.

  • The small glass bottles hold 2 fluid ounces. The plastic lids have a flip top with a small pour spout.
  • Medium glass bottles hold 4 fluid ounces. The plastic lids have a split flip top. One side has a larger opening and the other side is a shaker.
  • Large glass bottles hold 12 fluid ounces. The plastic lids have a split flip top. On side has a larger opening and the other side is a shaker.
