To make this tasty dip we mix together salt, dill weed, mild mustard, toasted onion, celery, parsley, ground dill seed, shallots, garlic, minced green onion and arrowroot. As a seasoning, this is excellent on salmon and other seafood.

To make this as a dip, use 1 to 2 Tbsp. Dill Dip per cup of either sour cream or cream cheese. For a healthier version, try using yogurt or cottage cheese. For a dressing, thin the dip mix with either milk or buttermilk. Try making a Dijon dip by mixing 2 to 3 tsp. Dill Dip with 1/2 cup of mayo, 1/4 cup Dijon mustard, and a couple of squirts of fresh lemon to taste. Another great idea is to chill the dip overnight, hollow out a loaf of pumpernickel or rye bread saving the cuttings for dipping, and fill your “bread bowl” with dip. Great presentation!

Try this with:

  • Dip/Spread: Add 1 Tbsp. to 1/2 cup sour cream + 1/2 cup softened cream cheese.
  • Tuna/Chicken Salad Dressing: Mix 2 tsp. with 1/2 cup mayonnaise for a quick, creamy dressing.
  • Pan-Fried Fish: Sprinkle each fillet with 1 to 2 tsp. then pan fry in butter.
