  • Aromatherapy Blending Bar with Marilyn Addison

    Join Marilyn for a fun hands-on workshop as she shares how to use essential oils to bring your inner and outer world into harmony. What you will learn: the art and science of blending; tools of aromatherapy; how essential oils enter the body; the aromatic language of essential oils; essential oils for everyday use. What you will create: a choice of bath salt, body scrub, massage oil, aromatic mist, or herbal sachets. What should you bring: a willingness to explore your creative energy. Ms. Addison is a Certified Aromatherapist, Chakra Clearing Practitioner and Owner of Spiritual Blends, a custom essential oil company. She combines her qualifications in aromatherapy with her skills as a compliance, quality assurance, and risk officer to promote the safe and effective use of essential oils. She currently serves as Director on the Board of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA) and also serves on the Education Committee of AIA. From being relatively unknown until a few years ago, it would seem almost every other person you meet is ‘gluten free; super market shelves are stacked with gluten free items and even restaurant menus cater to this trend. For the many who cannot tolerate gluten, it can be bewildering to navigate ‘gluten free’, and indeed many of the popular packaged gluten free products are far from healthy. Consuming gluten for those who are intolerant can cause great digestive distress and negatively impact the immune system. Join Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Chef Carol Green as she reveals her take on the rapid rise of the gluten free trend. She will discuss the impact of gluten on the body, and better options for gluten free living. Recipes demonstrated will feature spices from Savory Spice Shop and include Coconut Flour Blinis with Gravlax and Dilled Crème Fraiche; Crispy Parmesan Chicken Strips with Dijonnaise and Apple Slaw and to finish Chai spiced Coconut Chia Parfait with Grain Free Granola - YUM!   • Group Experience: Spice 101

    Led by owners Amy and Scott MacCabe, Spice 101 is a 45 minute interactive workshop and tour that includes a general overview of spices, how to use and store them, and cooking ideas for using the spices. Participants will sample a variety of spices and take home new recipe ideas. Spice 101's can be arranged upon request for groups of 5 - 25 people. Cost is $5 per person.
