How to Use

Use our Aleppo seasoning pepper where you'd typically add crushed pepper flakes! Sprinkle Aleppo chiles on your favorite pizza, or throw into salads for extra zest and spice. Try Aleppo peppers in chili, or mix into sauces, marinades or condiments.

Founders' Notes

Crushed red pepper still has a place in our kitchen, but Aleppo flakes are our go-to now. We sprinkle it on wood-fired pizzas from our backyard barrel oven. Janet likes to add a light sprinkle to her avocado toast for extra flavor without too much heat, and I like it as a spicy topping on top of homemade hummus.

Chef-Trusted, Locally Sourced

Not Just Coffee gets their heat from aleppo chile flakes sourced straight from our Charlotte spice store.

About this Spice

Named after the city in northern Syria famous for its chiles. Grown in the Middle East, these Aleppo chiles are sun-dried, deseeded, and crushed into flakes. The heat of these dried peppers develops slowly, so you can enjoy the fruity flavor that lies underneath without being overwhelmed by the heat.

Try this with:

  • Hummus: Sprinkle over top just before serving.
  • Chile Butter: Mix 1 Tbsp. into 1 stick softened butter and spread over corn, steak, or fish.
  • Pita Chips: Brush pita bread with oil, sprinkle with chiles, and bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. or until crisp.
