Southern Style Turnip Greens

Southern style greens usually involve bacon or ham and at least an hour or so of simmering on the stovetop. These simple yet hearty turnip greens make a great side for any BBQ meal or Southern-inspired menu. Try our Southern Style Turnip Greens recipe and let us know what you think!

4 to 6 servings
Ingredients
1 smoked ham hock or half a smoked ham shank (1 to 2 lb.) 1 quart chicken broth or water 3 to 4 lbs. fresh turnip greens Juice of 1 lemon
Wash Park Garlic Pepper
2 to 3 tsp. Wash Park Garlic Pepper
1 Tbsp. white vinegar
Directions
Rinse ham hock and place in a large pot with chicken broth. Bring to a boil then cover and simmer for about 20 min. Meanwhile, rinse turnip greens well, roughly chop, and toss with lemon juice. Add greens and Wash Park Garlic Pepper to pot. Cover and simmer for about 45 min. or until greens are tender. Add vinegar and adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
