Dutch Cocoa Powder
Cocoa powder comes from beans that grow in pods on the Theobroma cacao tree. Native to many South American countries, these trees now grow all around the world including Africa, Southeast Asia and Hawaii.
Dutch cocoa has been treated with an alkali which helps neutralize cocoas natural bitterness. It’s a richer, darker and slightly milder powder that is perfect for hot cocoa and other chocolate drinks. Dutch cocoa has a fat content of 22-24%. For a great cup of hot cocoa, mix 1 heaping tbsp. into a cup of hot milk. Sweeten to taste with any one of Savory Spice Shop’s vanilla bean sugars.
