You can't have Carolina-style barbecue without hushpuppies. This Carolina hushpuppies recipe produces crispy, slightly sweet, and perfectly fried bites to complement your hard-earned barbecue platter.

Not feeling barbecue? These puppies go great with seafood or make a fun alternative to traditional cornbread to go with your next pot of chili.

Ingredients

For hush puppies: 2 cups yellow cornmeal 1 cup flour* 2 Tbsp. sugar
Mayan Sea Salt 1 Tbsp. Mayan Sea Salt, plus more for sprinkling
1 Tbsp. Onion & Garlic Tableside Sprinkle 4 tsp. baking powder 1 cup buttermilk 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup melted butter
Aleppo Pepper Hot Sauce 1/4 tsp. Aleppo Pepper Hot Sauce
Vegetable oil, to fry For honey butter: 1 stick (8 Tbsp.) butter, softened
Honey Powder 2 Tbsp. Honey Powder (or 1 to 2 Tbsp. honey)
Onion & Garlic Everyday Seasoning Onion & Garlic Everyday Seasoning
