Ingredients
Black River Creole
2 Tbsp. Black River Creole
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp. baking powder
¾ cups water
1 egg
1 large sweet onion
Vegetable oil, for frying
Salt to taste
Directions
Whisk together Black River Creole, flour, and baking powder in a wide, shallow bowl. Wisk water and egg together until blended then stir into dry ingredients until combined. Slice onion into very thin rounds. Heat oil to 350 degrees. Add a handful of onion slices at a time to batter, tossing to coat. Fry each batch until golden brown, about 1 to 2 min. Transfer fried onion rings to a paper towel-lined platter and sprinkle with salt to taste while still hot. Continue with remaining onions. Serve warm or at room temperature.
