Flavor Profile

This Bourbon chicken mix is sweet and umami with nutty, toasty, spiced notes. It's flavor profile is similar to Teriyaki chicken, but with a New Orleans twist.

1 cup water
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
2 Tbsp. corn starch
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

The name of the dish is a nod to Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Turn one takeout favorite into another by adding orange flavor to make a quick and easy Orange Chicken.

With Spice 'n Easy, cooking is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Just open, spice and serve. Each packet includes the pre-measured spices needed to make a quick, simple and tasty recipe.

DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl, whisk Bourbon Chicken seasoning mix, water, and soy sauce. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine chicken and corn starch and stir until pieces are evenly coated. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 7 to 8 min. without stirring, or until golden brown. Stir and cook an additional 5 to 7 min., or until chicken is cooked through. Add sauce mixture and bring to a boil. Stir occasionally for 3 to 4 min., or until sauce is slightly thickened and shiny. Serve hot.

NOTES:
For a more traditional version: Replace 1/4 cup of the water in the recipe with bourbon.

Serve with: Rice, sliced scallions, and steamed vegetables.
