Greek Lamb Sausage Pizza

Recipe By Mary Johnston, Savory Franchising Team

6 to 8 servings

Recipe By Mary Johnston, Savory Franchising Team

The components of this Greek-inspired pizza can easily be made ahead, and using a store-bought pizza crust cuts down on overall prep and bake time. The sausage can be made on its own to add flavor to breakfast dishes or other Greek-inspired meals. And the sauce also makes a great dip for veggies or pita chips.

Serving Suggestions

The sausage can be made into patties and frozen for use in other dishes. The sauce makes a great dip for veggies or pita chips.

Recipe Notes

*The sausage works with regular ground pork, but pork shoulder is more flavorful; ask your butcher to grind it for you. To roast garlic, slice off top of head to expose cloves, sprinkle with 1 tsp. olive oil, wrap tightly in foil and roast in a 400-degree oven until soft, 30 to 40 min. When head is cool enough to handle, roasted cloves should squeeze right out.

For sausage:

12 oz. ground lamb

3/4 lb. course ground pork shoulder*

1 small white onion, diced

1/2 cup dried bread crumbs

2 Tbsp. olive oil

For sauce:

1 head garlic, roasted*

1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt

2 Tbsp. mayonnaise

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

For pizza & toppings:

1 large pre-cooked pizza or flatbread crust

2 tsp. olive oil

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

1/2 cup pitted, halved Kalamata black olives

1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

1/4 cup packed fresh torn basil leaves

For pizza & toppings: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place pre-cooked pizza crust on a large baking sheet. Brush crust with olive oil, sprinkle with Cantanzaro Herbs, and spread prepared sauce across the top. Sprinkle with cooked sausage all remaining toppings except basil.
