Chinese Five Spice Pecans

These are great for a cheese platter, scattered over a salad or as a topping for pumpkin pie or cheesecake. Make a double batch and give as holiday gifts.

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 large baking sheets with 1 Tbsp. butter each.
Step 2
Melt remaining 1/4 cup butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sugar, water, salt, pepper and Chinese Five Spice. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Step 3
Add nuts and cook until syrup thickly coats nuts, stirring frequently, about 5 min.
Step 4
Transfer nuts to prepared baking sheets. Bake until golden, about 10 min.
Step 5
Cool on baking sheets. Break apart and store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Recipe Notes
For a slightly different flavor direction, try Garam Masala or Mt. Baker Chai Spice Seasoning in place of Chinese Five Spice.
