HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?
We price our shipping to based on the weight of the products in your order and the delivery service you choose (USPS or FedEx). The shipping cost will be provided to you before you complete your order.
DO YOU OFFER FREE SHIPPING?
We offer free shipping for all orders over $59, although reaching the free shipping threshold is based on the total order amount after any discounts are applied.
We are not currently offering free shipping with any purchase of 2 or more ½ cup bag size products, unless your order is over $59.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY PACKAGE HAS SHIPPED?
As soon as USPS or FedEx picks up your package and enters it into their system, they will send you an email with your tracking number. With this number, you can follow the progress of your package. If you don’t receive this email you can contact us to request a tracking number.
HOW DO YOU PACKAGE YOUR SPICES?
We offer spices in glass jars and resealable plastic/craft paper bags. Jars are available in medium and large sizes. Bags are available in 1/2 cup, 1 cup, 2 cup and 3 cup sizes. Not all products are offered in every size.
CAN I PICK UP AN ORDER INSTEAD OF SHIPPING IT?
Yes, we offer in-store pickup. If you would like to place an order to be picked up at a specific store, you can contact that store directly via phone or email or select that store during the checkout process online. Contact information for all Savory Spice stores can be found on our locations page.
IS MY ORDER SECURE?
Yes. All purchases are secured by Shopify Plus and/or our subscription provider. At no time is your credit card number stored on our system or accessible by staff. We are audited quarterly to ensure security compliance and follow all practices defined by our bank and credit card processor. In compliance with bank requirements, the last 5 digits of your credit card number are stored to help you identify your payment method, but this information is insufficient for making a purchase.

WILL YOU ADD MY EMAIL ADDRESS TO YOUR MAILING LIST AUTOMATICALLY JUST BECAUSE I ORDER SOMETHING FROM YOU?
No. If you choose to checkout as a guest and do not opt in to marketing communications, you will not be added to our email list, but will still earn points in our Loyalty Club program. You will only receive emails about your order such as a receipt, tracking information, and an email asking for a review on the products you purchased.
DO LOYALTY CLUB REWARDS AND POINTS EXPIRE?
Yes, Loyalty Club rewards expire 30 days after they are created. Loyalty Club points expire 1 year after they are earned. Customers now need to convert their points into their $10 rewards, but will be notified by email when they have earned enough points to do.

DO I GET LOYALTY CLUB POINTS ON EVERY ITEM?
Loyalty Club points are now earned at one point per dollar spent, but are not eligible to be earned on gift cards, artisan offerings, discounted event gifting orders, or shipping charges.

WHAT IS THE LOYALTY CLUB BIRTHDAY GIFT?
Members of the Loyalty Club who have entered their birthday into their account will receive an email at the start of their birthday month. They will be granted a reward of a FREE 1oz bag of select seasonings redeemable during their birthday month. This is redeemable online or in any of our stores.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY SPICES?
Airtight glass jars are the ideal storage containers for spices. It is best to store spices away from heat and light, making a drawer or cabinet your best options. We do recommend storing certain products, like Tomato Powder, in the refrigerator to extend the shelf life.
HOW LONG DO SPICES LAST?
Spice don’t “go bad” in the same sense as other foods. They do, however, lose their flavor over time. Whole spices can maintain their full flavor for several years. We recommend replacing ground spices every year. The best test for spice freshness is simply smelling them. If they smell weak or have no aroma, they probably won’t have much flavor and should be replaced.
DO YOUR SEASONINGS CONTAIN MSG?
No, none of our seasonings contain MSG.
ARE YOUR SPICES SALT-FREE?
We have a wide range of salt-free seasonings, including traditional blends like chili powder and curry powder. Our salt-free spice blends also include salt-free seasonings for grilling & BBQ, seasonings for chicken, and much more. Explore salt-free options.
ARE YOUR SPICES GLUTEN-FREE?
The majority of our spices and seasonings are gluten-free, yes, and each product page notes such dietary details.
We have a few non-spice products that do contain gluten. They come to our warehouse pre-packaged and sealed and go out the same way. Store locations also carry a selection of artisan offerings that arrive pre-packaged and may contain gluten.
We also do not label our barbecue sauces as gluten-free because they use two ingredients that many people claim contain gluten: vinegar and soy sauce. According to our manufacturer, there are not enough gluten proteins in these ingredients to cause an effect for someone with Celiac disease. In cases like this, the FDA allows products to be labeled as gluten-free, however in the spirit of transparency we have opted not to label these products as gluten-free.
HOW DO I SUBSTITUTE A DRIED HERB FOR A FRESH HERB?
Because of their intense concentrated flavor, dried herbs can be substituted for fresh herbs at a ratio of 1 to 3. For example, if a recipe calls for 3 tsp. of fresh oregano, you can use 1 tsp. of dried oregano. In order to release the full flavor of dried herbs, they need to be heated and rehydrated. That’s why they’re great for recipes like soups and stews that sometimes require extended cooking times.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR BEEF?
There are tons of options depending on what kind of flavor profile you prefer but some classic customer favorites for beef are Hudson Bay Beef Spice which is our take on the classic Montreal seasoning and Kansas City Strip Steak Seasoning. We also have a great beef seasoning set with four favorites for beef in one box.
WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR CHICKEN?
Chicken is such a great blank slate for seasonings so don't be afraid to experiment with flavors from all over the world. Some go-to products include Lake Barkley Fried Chicken Seasoning, TSM BBQ Chicken Rub, sweet & salty Homestead Seasoning. Savory's founder Mike is also a big fan of both Jamaican Jerk (for those that like it a little spicy!) and Cajun Blackening.

Vegetables are another great way to play around with different spice combinations, but we do have some classic favorites for certain veggies including Park Hill Maple & Spice for carrots, Bucktown Brown Mustard & Honey Rub for Brussels Sprouts, and Capitol Hill Seasoning for potatoes and green beans.
WHAT DOES “SPICES” MEAN IN AN INGREDIENT LIST?
Per FDA requirements, “spices” refers only to a set list of spices that are not known allergens (see below). This term is NOT used to hide fillers. Many of our seasonings contain a complex blend of spices. Often, many individual spices are used in a very small volume in a seasoning. We use “spices” because, though a seasoning may contain allspice, for example, such a small amount is used that it is not a primary flavor component in the blend.
