Directions

Step 1: Infuse syrup

Combine syrup ingredients in a small bowl and stir to submerge whole spices. Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 4 days. Alternatively, bring syrup to a low simmer on the stove, ensuring it doesn’t boil. Add whole spices and simmer 10 to 15 min. Strain and serve warm.

Step 2: Make waffles

Preheat waffle maker. In a medium bowl, add flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, Lavender, Mayan Sea Salt, and baking soda, and whisk to combine. In a separate bowl, add buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter, and whisk to combine. Mix wet mixture into dry mixture and stir until just combined. Add blueberries and mix until evenly distributed. Rest batter for 10 min. Scoop 1/2 cup of batter into waffle iron, sprinkle surface with Whiskey Barrel Smoked Sugar, and cook 4 to 5 min. until waffles are golden and crispy. Serve with infused syrup.
